Be Unstoppable: Finish What Your Start

The burning desire to finish what you start is a powerful force that drives us to overcome obstacles and achieve our most ambitious goals. This principle, embodied in Broward College's motto, "Finish what you start," served as my guide during the 12 years I dedicated to my studies. As Napoleon Hill aptly stated, "The starting point of all achievement is desire... a vehement, throbbing, transcendental desire." This unwavering determination became the force propelling me to cross the finish line at every stage of my academic and professional journey. In the following paragraphs, I will share how this burning desire, combined with discipline, perseverance, and an unyielding resolve, helped me overcome challenges and transform dreams into tangible achievements.

Broward College's motto, "Finish what you start," is a simple yet profound phrase that deeply resonated with me throughout my academic journey. This burning desire to finish what I had started fueled my commitment to completing my studies. This powerful determination guided me at every stage of my journey as a student. I realized that my desire to learn had to surpass the mere goal of passing a class. If I was going to make significant sacrifices to study as an adult, I needed to ensure that every moment spent studying was an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge. When I decided to prepare for my real estate license in 1999, I transformed my desire into an unstoppable force.

Excuses and distractions held no power over me as I studied enthusiastically every day after work. That same attitude remained with me throughout my academic career. Understanding that, due to my age, I needed to study full-time to achieve my goals, I intensified my efforts and committed even more deeply. Once I defined my goal and made it my obsession, failure ceased to be an option. I consistently prioritized my desire to complete my studies over any temptation to give up. This determination reminds me of the military strategy of burning ships, where a commander orders his ships destroyed to eliminate the option of retreat, leaving only one path: advance and conquer. Adopting this mindset in my studies allowed me to maintain unwavering focus, never considering surrender. Finishing my studies remained an absolute priority. I learned that success demands a willingness to "burn your ships," removing all possibilities of retreat. Only then can you sustain the burning desire to win, a mindset essential for success.

If you are considering pursuing a professional license or a college degree, commit from day one to see it through, regardless of the obstacles you may face. Invest fully in yourself: trust in your abilities, have faith in your potential, and most importantly, never entertain the thought of giving up. The burning desire to finish what you start is the cornerstone of success in any area of life. Whether obtaining a professional license, passing an exam, completing a degree, or achieving professional goals, the secret lies in full commitment and unwavering determination. Do not allow any obstacle to deter you from your path. As I discovered throughout my journey, perseverance, focus, and a willingness to eliminate the option of failure are vital to transforming goals into accomplishments. When you are ready to give your all and refuse to give up, you will find that there is no limit to what you can achieve. Believe in yourself, stay passionate, and finish what you start!
