Florida Atlantic University Admission Requirements

So that you can compare the difference between the requirements demanded by Broward College, I present below the admission requirements of Florida Atlantic University. It should be kept in mind that this change depending on the study program you choose to complete, so I recommend contacting the university before making any decision.

Academic Requirements:

Grade Point Average (GPA): An average GPA of approximately 3.74 on a 4.0 scale is required, equivalent to an A- average.

        Standardized Exams:

o    SAT: Scores between 1020 and 1200 are common among admitted students, with an average close to 1110.

o    ACT: Accepted scores usually range between 20 and 25, with an average of 22.

Secondary Course Requirements: Applicants must have completed:

o    4 units of English (with an emphasis on composition).

o    4 units of mathematics (at the Algebra 1 level or higher).

o    3 natural science units (2 with laboratory).

o    3 units of social sciences.

o    2 units of the same foreign language.

o    2 units of elective academic subjects.

Administrative Requirements:

Admission Request: Complete and submit the admission application through the FAU system.

Official Transcripts: Provide transcripts from high school and any post-secondary institution previously attended.

Exam Scores: Submit official SAT or ACT scores.

English Language Proficiency: International students must demonstrate proficiency through exams such as TOEFL or IELTS.

Foreign Language Requirement: Have completed at least two years of the same foreign language in high school or demonstrate equivalent proficiency.

Additional Considerations:

Personal Essay: It is not always required, but it can strengthen the application by showing the applicant's personality, motivation, and goals.

Letters of Recommendation: They are not a mandatory requirement, but can be useful to complement the application.

FAU evaluates each application holistically, considering both academic achievements and extracurricular and personal experiences. Some specific programs may have additional or more stringent requirements, so it is recommended that you review the criteria in detail depending on the program of interest.
